Scotland premier mountain biking routes. Each route has 3 versions for the easy, medium and hard rides. Your bikes will be safe in our garage at the side.

There are some wonderful restaurants and hotels that offer quality dining. As this is a coastal region a lot of the best local dishes are made of the fresh fish caught locally. Portpatrick makes a great visit with its many cafes and restaurants in the harbour.

Dumfries and Galloway is an area to suit all tastes with many activities.

If mountain biking is your passion the world renowned 7 Stanes tracks are not to be missed. When you stay at Craigells holiday cottage in Dumfries and Galloway you will be close to 5 of the 7 Stanes. The closest at Kirroughtree is a short 30 minute drive from Craigells and the more challenging Dalbeattie 7 Stanes including the famous “slab” is around only a 1 hour drive.
If you like a village pub the Kenmuir Arms located 1.5 miles away is not to be missed for its guest real ales and its friendly atmosphere particularly on a Friday night and Sunday late afternoon.

The Southern Upland way passes within a few hundred yards of Craigells. It offers something to everyone, whether a serious walker or just someone who enjoys walking in the countryside for leisure. There are many short walks or day long walks in the surrounding countryside which are not to be missed.

Cree Estuary and the Mull of Galloway

The Mull of Galloway is Scotlands most southerly point where you can see Puffins nesting in the cliffs. And take adventurous cliff hugging walks around the peninsula - Craigells is a short drive from the Mull.

Warmed by the Gulf Stream, the area enjoys a mild climate and has all year round attractions. There are over 30 Gardens to visit. Close to Craigells you will find Logan Botanic Garden & salad bar tearoom, Logan House Gardens, Ardwall Gardens, Castle Kennedy Gardens (Lochinch Castle - Home of the Earl of Stair) and Glenwhan Gardens.

Families will have fun

Although you could spend the entire holiday just walking in this beautiful region of Scotland. There are activities such as horse trekking, Tank Driving 4x4 buggy rides, sea trips to see seals and dolphins, and a selection of great beaches and rocky coves.
